-- Drove out to the farm today and didn't even think to grab my suit. I would've had to pool all to myself. Well, I would've had to share with Mia, but she's easy enough. Maybe once Frank gets home I will be able to talk him into going back with me.

Northwest the new Midwest?

-- Woke up abruptly to the sound of 5 dogs barking wildly around 1am. Then I registered what sounded like a high velocity fan running top speed. That loud sound was rain hitting the roof. A thunderstorm had rolled in and it was pouring, but only for a very short time.

One of my mothers dogs is afraid of thunder and had her head under the desk next to me with her body just standing very still next to the bed. Her heaving panting gave her away though. I decided to get up and head into the other room where all the dogs were congregating and my mother and I sat there with them for probably 40 minutes trying to get back to sleep. The thunder was very far away but even the slightest grumble of it freaks out this one dog. Luckily, my dogs were more concerned with why she was nervous than the actual lightning and thunder.

-- Yet again, I awoke very suddenly at just after 7am to the sound of 5 barking dogs and have since been on two walks around the back property and have broken up a few arguments between Scotch and every one of my parents dogs. The males are trying to establish dominance and Scotch keeps acting up. He's going to spend 3 weeks here later on this month so they better get this sorted out quickly. For now, Scotch has his behave collar on so he should be well mannered for a bit.

-- Mia is reluctant to come inside at all. It's like she feels that if she does the big park outside will all go away and we'll be back to our small yard. She's really funny and unless she's on the verge of collapsing due to exhaustion, she'll sit at the door and wimper until someone takes her out. All she wants to do is go run laps around the property and run around with snakes in her mouth. This must be pretty close to heaven for her. The vineyard next to us has all it's sprinklers running and Mia is determined to find a way over the fence to go run through them.

-- Franks parents are currently driving up from California and will be staying at a nearby hotel. There are a number of people who plan on camping here this weekend, some of which came to set up their camp last night. I hope these storms don't repeat themselves or else we're going to have a lot of indoor campers. Not that that wouldn't be a lot of fun. The number of thunderstorms around here lately is baffling... I don't ever remember a time like this growing up. Maybe the NW is the new Midwest as far as storms go.

-- Later today we're heading into the county courthouse to get our marriage license. Dun... Dun... Dunnnnnnn. That will be another one of those "it's really happening" moments.

-- Ok I'm tired of typing. Must eat and shower in an order to be determined later.
